Race for Life – Update

As of today, Thursday 6th October, the primary school alone have raised over £1200 for Cancer Research. This is a fantastic figure and we have a few children who have still to bring in their sponsor money.

Race for Life

On Friday 30th September we took part in the Race for Life to raise money for Cancer Research UK. We don’t yet know the final figure but we do know that we raised a large sum of money for this good cause.

P1/2 ran around the field once, and P3/4 ran round twice. Well done to them all because they ran the whole way. Jacob won the P1/2 race and Jim won the P3/4 race.

The P5-S6s ran a 5km route that took them alongside the canal. The primary pupils did very well, Isla MacArthur was first girl overall which was fantastic. Kai came fourth overall, well done Kai. Mungo Blakey was the first to finish, he was very fast. Everyone got medals.

Car Washing and Busking

Many, many thanks to all the children and adults who supported our fundraising efforts at the weekend.

The car washing was carried out with enthusiasm and energy, so our cars were left sparkling clean! The busking went down a treat too, I heard many positive comments about it.

In all, we raised around £260 and had a lovely time doing so. The money raised will be used to subsidize the P7 residential trip to Edinburgh, the P5-7 residential trip to Altnacriche and a P1-4 trip in the summer term.

Absence

Please let the school know if your child is going to be absent from school. We would ask that you do this before 9.30am, but preferably before 9am. We would rather not have to track parents down if it can be avoided. For any planned absences, please let the school know in good time in writing.

Water Bottles

Can we remind parents that children are only allowed to drink water during class time. They are welcome to drink fruit juices and squash at playtime and lunchtime but not during class. We realise that fruit juices are healthy too, but it often difficult to know what exactly is in their bottle and so we prefer to just stick to water.

A Journey with Trees – 10.09.16

On Saturday 10th September a team from Trees for Life came over the old military road from Glenmoriston. The came with two ponies and they planted some trees on the way. They left some trees with the school so that we can plant them in the playground. Ariel Killick told a story about the forest in Gaelic and English. The story was interactive and lots of fun. Well done to Julina who was a real star and to Katie for her involvement too. Ariel will be coming back to the school on a school day around November/ December to work some more with us

Assembly – 09.09.16

Assembly- 09.09.16

On Friday we had an assembly about Zacchaeus. From this story we learned that we shouldn’t hold grudges and that everyone should have a second chance, especially in school. We enjoyed singing about Zacchaeus, especially P1/2.

We had lots of Head Teacher awards and Casey had the honour of being in the Golden Book. The mighty Tarff won the house points.
