P1/2 Trip to Urquhart Castle 30/03/2017

We had a lovely trip to Urquhart Castle today. Great experiential learning linked to our Knights and Castles topic for this term.

We saw weapons of war, defensive earthworks and equipment and an exciting and informative video explaining some of the history of Urquhart Castle. Our guide was terrific…not only showing us around the castle but also helping us understand some of the problems the knights had to deal with when they went to war.

Thanks very much indeed to Historic Environment Scotland for giving us the chance to enjoy this precious site which is right on our own doorstep.

Thanks also to the mums who came along to help. As always, your help is much appreciated. We had more offers of help than we needed this time, so thank you.

Here are some images of the day, showing the kinds of things we saw…bow and arrows, trebuchet and missiles, broad sword, targe, helmet, and views of the castle.
