Pleasingly, the weather cleared in good time for our visit to Culachy Woods on Friday. What a brilliant start we had when we spotted a female Sika deer as soon as we arrived. In spite of the midges, we tried to find as many different things as we could on the forest floor. After that, we made pictures with what we had found…we were able to look at Mrs Brady’s lovely picture for inspiration. We had a go at making bark rubbings and we also practised being quiet so that we could hear the sounds of the forest. We were hoping to meet up with Coinneach and Breagha, our Pixie guides, but they must have been busy elsewhere. Maybe we will see them next time we go to the woods. Many thanks to the estate for their kind permission. Thanks also to the mums who came along to help…we couldn’t do these trips without you!
