Kilchuimen Primary School Olympics (Day One)

Following the opening ceremony from the previous day, the first events got started under brilliant blue skies (we have borrowed some of the weather from Rio). The competition was as good as the weather with close contests throughout the first day.

Three different sports were on display: Football, Basketball and Golf. With a gold, silver and bronze available for each sport in each class, there were a total of 27 medals to compete for.

The competition was excellent with tight battles taking place across all the sports. By the end of the P5/6/7 basketball events there were eight athletes still challenging for the gold medal and in the end we had to extend the event into a ‘shootout’ to find the eventual winner.
